Dear Jenny,
I was given your name by Max Johnson, editor of The Move. He told me you were an agent for people in the media and he suggested I get in touch with you. I've been working for The Move for several years now, and usually I'm accompanied by a very good photographer, Simon Tooke. Unfortunately, he's in Siberia now, and he appears to be having some trouble finding a means to get back home. Max Johnson wants me to go to Los Angeles very soon, and he thought it would be a good idea if I took a photographer with me. I was wondering if you had anyone on your files who might be available straightaway. This isn't the sort of mission I usually carry out and I don't know a lot about it yet, but I'm looking for someone with a professional attitude, easily adaptable, with a sense of initiative.
I can catch a plane to Cardiff tomorrow morning and if it's convenient to you, perhaps we could meet in the afternoon. I'm sorry to make this request at such short notice, but Max is very keen that I begin my mission as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Tom Hunter

Dear Tom,
I have a number of appointments tomorrow, but I should be free at 5 p.m. if that suits you. I can't promise that I have anyone immediately available who fits the profile you mention, but I'll have a look at my files and see what I can do.
I look forward to meeting you.
