Unit 6 / Listening 7B
Secretary: Hello? Jason Freedman's office. Can I help you?
Gina: Yes, I'd like to make an appointment with Mr Freedman, please.
Secretary: May I ask the reason?
Gina: Yes, I wanted to talk with him about a genetic disorder that runs in my family. I'm thinking of having a baby, you see.
Secretary: May I ask you name?
Gina: Yes. Gina Thomson.
Secretary: Just one moment, please. (Pause) I'm afraid Mr Freedman's unavailable for the moment. Perhaps I could direct you to a colleague?
Gina: It's really Mr Freedman I wanted to see.
Secretary: He's out of the country right now. He's not to be disturbed on any account.
Gina: Oh ... When will he be back?
Secretary: He gets back next month, but after that he has a very busy schedule. Can I suggest you ring again in six months?
Gina: But that's ages.
Secretary: I'm sorry, Mrs. Thomson, it's the best I can offer.
Gina: I see. Well, thank you anyway. Goodbye, (replaces phone) Oh dear, it looks as if we've reached
a dead end. What are we going to do now?
